Men in skirts

NEW YORK - About 100 men in minis, midis and even tutus took to the streets of Manhattan to call for an end to the tyranny of trousers.

Full story This is just wrong on so many levels it makes me embarrassed to say that I am from NY. I guess it's all those metasexual types that I have been hearing about. What gets me is that I have never heard of a law against men wearing skirts. Other than the "laws" of good taste at any rate. Does anyone out there know of a man who wants to wear a skirt in public?

Not difficult to explain. One of the interviewees was from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. I spent several years in Duchess County and can vouch for fact there are many residents who "escaped" the saneness of NYC to get out where the air is clean and the souls are fossilized.

I don't even know know any women who want to wear skirts.

Hell there are some areas of Duchess that could have been used in the movie Deliverance. Northern Orange county is even worse in places.

If I ran the world, all men would be required to wear kilts. Just sayin'.

There are enough scary looking women running around in skirts, don't even want to think about adding men to the mix.

I'm going to get a kilt soon, and will wear it around for no occasion whatsoever.

That's "metrosexual," Pete. "Metasexual" is a guy who's into metal--rebars and things like that.

Just goes to show how up I am on that type of thing.

Susie-

You don’t know how on-the-mark you are. Some of us nuevo-Irish, closet Scotsmen would relish the opportunity to “go Scotch”. Heh, heh.

“The informal Argyl jacket, and vest, is worn with the kilt. The Sporran, is leather for day use and trimmed in silver with light or dark colored skins for evening. Socks, or hose, are off-white, oatmeal color, or solid color for day and/or evening wear (can be Tartan to match the kilt). Garters were worsted wool and knotted with a garter knot (the end or flashes hanging below the overturn). Today, garters of solid color or Tartan flashes attached are popular. The formal lace Jabot is worn over a plain white shirt, though some prefer a solid color or Tartan tie. Lace cuffs can be sewn or snapped into the jacket. The Balmoral-style bonnet is the most popular style of headgear. The bonnet should display the wearer's Clan Badge. The dirk is unnecessary, but can be worn on the belt. A Sgian-Dubh (small dagger); however, is carried in the right hand stocking on all occasions. Kilt pins and brooches for the Plaids are traditional. Shoes, or Gillies, are worn and suited to dancing the Highland dances.”

I wear skirts on a semi-regular basis. Why? A couple of reasons: first, I have great legs; second, it's a political statement about the unfairness of women having the freedom of fashion to wear both skirts and slacks, while men are condemned to just slacks. It's just not fair. Historically speaking, men have been wearing skirts a lot longer than women have been wearing slacks.
Cheers.
