I have to say "yes" to Laurence's question about the Korean hostage. I agree with Simon's thoughts...most of us can't imagine what we'd do in a similar situation, and we can't judge anyone who is actually IN THAT SITUATION.
I like to think I'd be defiant, and at least put up a fight, but hell. I'd probably be a blubbering mess crying for my mommy. Who knows?
In the few life-threatening situations I found myself in, I've been extremely calm. However, none of the situations involved Islamic militants with knives or guns.
***Update: Shank continues the discussion.
***Update 2: Ace has mucho discussion going on. I just want to say...I think Laurence is the cat's pajamas. My POV is that he likes to stir the pot and see what happens. I don't think his post was mean-spirited. It was just Laurence stirring the pot as he's wont to do.
Posted by Jennifer at June 21, 2004 11:16 AMJen, good discussion topic. I posted a little entry on my blog so's I wouldn't fill up your space with my verbal poo-poo. I also tried to do a trackback, but my severe internet retardation is proving itself a worthy foe.
Posted by: shank at June 21, 2004 02:23 PMThe reason it didn't trackback was because you linked to the comments rather than the post. Gotta learn somehow. :-)
