I'll Give You a Topic...

Every summer when I was a kid, we'd drive up to our family's cabin in Wisconsin for vacation. We'd spend one or two weeks up there on the lake, surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Now that we (cousins) are older, some of us don't make it to the cabin very often while others are up there all the time--bringing their own kids now.

This weekend I'll be going up there as I do almost every year, and although I don't have kids of my own, I'll be taking my niece and nephew.

What kind of family traditions or experiences do you remember from your childhood that you want your children to experience?

If only Jim were here today...I'd get some comments.

Sigh.

oddly enough I just wrote on my blog about this today...inspired by another blog I read.

My favorite memory is of sitting in a cherry tree, picking cherries while reading a book and watching the world go by.

I loved that little corner of my world!

And I was hoping someone would record their memories and then I came here (through Snooze button)...Oh what a wonderful coincidence! And what lovely memories.

Traveling the southwest. Both my parents were anthropolgists so we'd go and see their old haunts - mesa verde, bandolier, pecos... i'd get an education and get to see the other sides of the parks and get more information than you;d ever get from a tour.

Sorry to leave you hanging yesterday, Jen.

And...er...sorry to leave you hanging again today. Fear not though for I shall comment tomorrow.

Not that this isn't a comment, it's just not a very good one.

Is there a Bonfire of the Comments?

I'll be in WI this weekend. Camping and boating at the Dells for a few days.
