I've never been fired, downsized, or otherwise let go from any job in my life.
Until an hour ago.
So far it sucks.
Posted by Jennifer at July 12, 2004 03:03 PMcrap, I feel your pain. I'm the most unhappy person in the world when I'm un/underemployed; so I know how you feel. If it makes you feel any better, I found out today that I need to repair my car, and it's going to cost me $1000. You'll find another job (probably a better one).
Posted by: shank at July 12, 2004 03:11 PMOh, no. I'm so sorry to hear that. I've been there myself and know how it feels. Don't let it effect your self-esteem, to the extent you can avoid it. Also, I am noticing that the economy is picking up in terms of hiring, at least here in NY and that is what my wife is hearing from local head hunters.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help (I mean it).
Posted by: RP at July 12, 2004 03:34 PMBloody f*cking Hell!!!!

Posted by: Jack at July 12, 2004 03:38 PMOh, Jen, I am so sorry.
Dang. I hope something more interesting and better paying comes along your way soon.
{{{hugs}}} That sucks Jen. Sorry to read about this.
Been there and it truly sucks. I got through it with the help of friends. So if I can be of any help I will. Just ask.
Posted by: Stephen Macklin at July 12, 2004 09:00 PMholy crap. well if you wanna move to austin, my company is hiring support people.
Posted by: pylorns at July 12, 2004 10:17 PMBabe! That sucks! Just don't start working at a nudie bar to cover the bills! Well...maybe.
Posted by: Kin at July 13, 2004 04:30 AMDamn. Just...damn.
Posted by: Wind Rider at July 13, 2004 07:33 AMDamn that sucks. You are very intelligent and will be top candidate in other positions with glowing recommendations from the last employer. Remember every door that closes leads to another that is open.
Posted by: cj at July 13, 2004 08:44 AMI feel your pain. I was layed off late last summer. And to make matters worse I knew about it for 2 weeks before it happened.
And I was too bummed to enjoy the rest of summer.
But on the bright side I've now got a better job with a better company, more pay and better career prospects.
And the best part, the old company is under investigation and on the verge of bankruptcy (no I'm not bitter, why do you ask?)
Things will work out, just hope you survive the unemployement office. I felt a need to come home and take a shower after leaving there, ick.
Posted by: Machelle at July 13, 2004 08:52 AMOh, boy. That truly blows, Jen. It was like a sledgehammer to the chest when I got the news about my job so I know what you're feeling. I hope you find a new job soon.
Posted by: Jim at July 13, 2004 09:06 AMSympathy, hugs, whiskey.
And I can get you refills as needed on any of the above.
Posted by: Harvey at July 13, 2004 09:08 AMI'd make a joke about how you don't have to deal with CW anymore, but it wouldn't be funny. I know; I've been there too. Please remember talented people tend not to be out of work for long.
Posted by: Victor at July 13, 2004 09:22 AMI'm sorry, darlin'. I've been there for that, too, and it sucks a big one, so I really, really am keeping things crossed for you. If you need to vent, I'm around.
Posted by: Helen at July 13, 2004 12:05 PMOh, Jen, I'm so sorry!
Posted by: Susie at July 13, 2004 12:15 PMHang tough, sweet Jen. The lord works in mysterious and wonderous ways and I figure she has better things in mind for you. When you come to a fork in the road, take it boldly and don't look back.
Posted by: Rick at July 13, 2004 01:08 PMI'm really sorry to hear this, Jen. Hang in there.
Posted by: nic at July 13, 2004 04:23 PMDon't. You. Dare. Let this get you down.
