Hitting the Links

You know, I'd just like to point out that the women's basketball team won gold. Now onto bloggy links...

I've been blogrolled (and will reciprocate in kind, as is my policy). However, the commentary on my linkage puzzles me a bit. Apparently I bumped someone whose blog had degenerated into "filler". Which would seem to disqualify me as well, no?

I don't know what they are, but clearly I now must try to get more than anyone else.

Simon, age 1, has a most thorough collection of blogging advice...most of which rings incredibly true. However, I take offense to #41: "fight your way through it by posting crap. This could involve recycling old stuff you wrote in a desperate 'best of' kind of thing". I thought Simon was my buddy, and here he is picking on me like this. Also, #42 is sadly true: "The stupidest, most off-the-cuff posts tend to get the most comments." The posts that you spend hours researching and perfecting will be completely ignored, while some nonsense about Guinness beer will be your most popular post ever. And your posts about the suckage of a certain university will be first in Google and yield several hits a day.

And finally, they apparently bathe in some parts of Alabama. Who knew?

Hey Jen, we are buddies...after all, it takes a true friend to tell you the truth. And it reminds me it might be time to drag out some of my old stuff...

Never, in a million years, will I recycle old material. You may find plays upon similar ideas, but only vaguely. We have a lunch crew at work which, I'm not kidding, give me at least three ideas per lunch. I blow errands off to listen to new ideas. They're not political, they're just SOC (Stream Of Consciousness). I live a pretty humdrum life - if I can find new stuff to write about, anyone can. I'm not saying it's the best stuff, but it's my stuff.

P.S. Except for "The Best of the Project" on my page. I don't count that, as it is just a personal greatest hits.

Hmmmm.... this post looks pretty inane. I think I'll leave a comment.

Harvey--you're only jealous I didn't link to YOU.

Todd--Recycling accomplishes two things...one, it brings the "old" posts to this site before the blog-city site goes away. Two, I think I've picked up some readers in the last year who did not see the posts originally. So it shows I did have content once upon a time. ;-)

I'm sorry if my post came off as arrogant - I just remember a lot of odd things that occur during the day. I was under the impression that were I to come across a new blog, I simply read their archive. I'm still relatively new to the blogosphere, but try to play by the rules :-) My rule is, no retreads. There's a lot of good reading out there in the archives!
