Simple/Simplistic Observation

It occurs to me that the last two presidents have a couple things in common. Both came from outside the Washington establishment (say what you will about GWB's father, GWB himself didn't have a Washington career), and both are polarizing figures.

The right hates Clinton. They wanted him out, and some of them were willing to do anything to make that happen.

The left hates Bush. They want him out, and some of them are willing to do anything to make that happen.

So history does repeat itself. Or what goes around comes around. Take your pick.

I for one am more than a little concerned with the growing divide in this country. The best thing that could happen would be for one of the candidates to win decisively, rather than having another close race like 2000.

I agree. My business suffered horribly during the election of '00 as we agonized over the outcome. If the election is not over on November 3rd, I fear a repeat in flat sales, and increased divisiveness in our country. Someone needs to win overwhelmingly to settle everyone down so we can get back to discussing important matters such as Bill O'Reilly's sex life and whether or not Steve Spurrier is going back to coaching the Gators.

I also agree, the latest news about lawsuits, and people trying to change election policy makes me nervous. Oh and then those missing 60,000 absentee ballots in Florida, and the continuing confusion there...

I think Jeb Bush needs a good smack upside the head.
