Random Title

There should be a random title generator. Someone develop that, k?

I posted a handful of new Des Moines pictures here, if you're interested. I have more to upload, plus I need to start an "Iowa" album.

Re: wrist. The way it happened is the reason I'm an idiot. You know the old, boring story...person stands on unsteady surface, person falls, person catches self by putting arm out, person experiences unholy pain, person almost faints, etc. Not interesting.

This morning I broke my "Not going within 5 miles of a shopping center the day after Thanksgiving" rule, but it was For The Children. Woke up (sorta) at 5 a.m. and went to Toys R Us for an electric mini-ATV thing for my nephew, at his grandmother's request. Got there when it opened at 6, zipped directly to what I needed, zipped directly to the checkout line, which was being monitored by the Line Nazi. Other than being knocked into by another shopper and having the Line Nazi barking at us not to cross the red line, it wasn't entirely unpleasant. I got in and out in 10 minutes, easy. Mom called and I reported on the state of West Des Moines--traffic accidents, full lots at Best Buy and Kohl's, and I was getting the heck out of there.

I went home and immediately got a call from my mother, who was stuck in a line at Kohl's (because she didn't heed my warning)...she wanted me to go there and stand in line for her so she could go to another store. Sleep-deprived me somehow agreed and stood in the ridiculous line (2 hour wait to checkout). Then she promised to get the photo printer I want if I'd go to Office Depot, so off we went. Not bad at all there. She tricked me and took me to Younkers, which was a total madhouse.

She tried to get me to go to WalMart, but I talked her out of it. Thus ended our shopping excursion. And this post.

You are a better daughter than I.

Cool pictures. The Capitol is quite ornate...what's the story behind the architecture?
