What I Learned Today

For 17 years, I ate my mom's chili approximately three times a month. For the last 13 years, it's been more sporadic, but still. Same recipe, never changes.

Today, I was at the store when my mom called for something unrelated. Finding out where I was, she asked me to pick up kidney beans for her chili. No problem.

Who knew there were "light" kidney beans and "dark" kidney beans? Not I. I don't particularly care for kidney beans, and never bought them for myself, that's for sure.

I looked closely at both cans, and finally opted for the "light" variety.

I was wrong. For 30 years, I'd been eating dark kidney beans, and I couldn't pick them out of a lineup. I had a 50/50 chance!

Oh, well. Now I know. And so do you.

There's more than one type of bean?

If kidney beans are in a lineup, do the police send in undercover kidney beans to trick the witness?
