*Beautiful Day

In Iraq:

"This is democracy," the elderly woman said proudly, holding up a thumb stained with the purple ink used to mark those who had voted. "This is the first day I feel freedom."

Welcome to democracy.

Does each individual yearn for the same thing? Apparently, we all do. Even Ted Kennedy would have to agree with what this lady stated.

The lady put it beautifully. Their first step towards democracy. Im very happy for them.

Hundreds of beautiful pictures yesterday, each one saying more than words can express.

One of the more powerful ones I saw was of a man who had been shot in the face (I included it in my post here). How many of us who have been privileged to grow up in mature democracies would be willing to vote in such circumstances?

That so many did makes me cautiously optimistic.
