Testing Your Devotion I'll Give You a Topic

It's been many moons since I've given you a topic. So here's one:

Corndogs. Tasty food-on-a-stick, or unholy abomination?

Discuss.

My corn dog observation: it is very hard to tell the difference between a real corn dog and a vegetarian corn dog.

I love a corn dog with some yellow mustard and hot sauce.

However, it is also an unholy abomination. I'd have to guess that each corndog you eat takes as many minutes off your life as a cigarette does.

Corn dogs fall under the Candy Maxim. That's the dead commedian, not the treat categroy. The Candy Maxim states that there are certain foods that once sampled must be consumed. In layman's terms it means if you take a bite you are doomed to eat the whole thing.

A good corn dog is like a turd shaped (turd on a stick shaped, to be precise) drop of Heaven. It makes you smile while you eat it. It reminds you of childhood and a mother's love. Not necessarily your mother. It heals cholera and balances the budget. It is goodness itself.

A bad corn dog is indeed an unholy abomination. Its evil stems from the fact that you don't know that it is a bad corn dog until you take a bite. Once you take a bite the Candy Maxim kicks in and you are doomed to the misery of continuing to eat nastiness and being unable to stop yourself.

Oh, the horror.

Incidentally, one of my favorite things about the Renaissance Festival is all of the food on a stick. On this last trip I had "The King's Weiner". It was a big ol' 12 inch bratwurst on a stick.

And yes...I did tongue it for the horror, confusion and amusement of my companions. Unfortunately my companions were 4 kids and Adriana so there were 4 counts of confusion and 1 of horror. What the hey...I was amused. That's all that really matters when you think about it.

Anything fried on a stick is good...
