Presidential Facts From Encarta

This article is titled "12 Things You Didn't Know About U.S. Presidents" which of course I viewed as a challenge.

I knew 1 and 2, did not know 3, knew 4, dispute 5, did not know 6, knew 7 and 8 and 9, am curious about 10...surely there aren't that many bad swimmers in tiny Dixon?, and knew 11 and 12.

Just in case you're keeping score.

But do you know who was the first President to be born in a hospital?

re: #3--see? You *can* do something on Presidential shoe sizes!

Your tagboard is back up. The 200-word limit is killing me.

Carter.

I was clueless about Gerald Ford. But now that I think about it... the thin hair, the lack of vocabulary... he must have been a f-f-f-football player.

And, according to the biography "Dutch", Dixon was a popular resort. President Reagan worked there 7 summers. But I'm not sure how I feel about Edmund Morris' biographical style in that one.

Reagan carved a notch in a log every time he rescued someone. Not all 77 may have been in the gravest of danger, of course, but they flailed enough to get him out of his chair. Either way, it's great lore!
