Dog Angels

Old man winter has returned to Rochester with a vengeance, and he’s brought along the kinfolk this time. January 1st and 2nd was in the 60s. Today we’ve had unexpected lake effect snows totaling up to two feet and expect to break the low temperature records tonight and tomorrow. Records set when Franklin Roosevelt wheeled around the White House.

The dog won’t even venture outside to fashion dog angels, and she has a built in fur coat.

I think we’ll stay close to our toddies this evening.

Yeah it is cold here in Rochester, Bob. It's noon on Friday, the sun is shining brightly and its zero degrees right now (that's not the wind-chill, that's the actual temperature, Fahrenheit).

Can we blame President Clinton? Or blame Canada?

It is definitely Canada's fault. : )

Paige: are you in Rochester, NY?

Jay: blame 'em both, just for grins and giggles.

Same windychilly conditions here on Long Island Sound, Connecticut (though it got to a balmy 9 degrees around 2pm). Just be glad yer not walking the 25 minute trek from yer house to the bus stop in this windy sleety iceworld. (I am.)
I'm gonna go sit in the tub for a few hours.

Yes, I blog and live in Rochester, NY: home of the famous Garbage Plate; home of baseball Hall of Famer Bill Klem (the best umpire in the history of the game); and home of some photographic company or something.

Paige-

Nice to have a fellow traveler nearby. I live a block off the Erie Canal in the village of Fairport.

A shame about the leftover shells of great American companies that reside in Rochester, but life goes on. The fast ferry, new soccor stadium and combination bus terminal/arts centre/MCC technical centre will spruce things up a bit.

I think the Garbage Plate rightfully deserves a blog entry. I'll watch your site.

Incidentally, Stan, the other half of ModPar, lives in the West near Clarendon.

I probably have biked (not today, during the summer) within a block or two of your house then. I bike along the Erie Canal quite a lot. I'm not convinced that the fast ferry or soccer stadium is really what Rochester needs, but in any event, I'll be pleased if it works well.

Paige-

I agree about the ferry, etc. We'll just have to wait and see.

I bike and run the canal path. It's a treasure.
