The Power of Words

I'm not a big fan of Blogs for Bush. Not because of the political views of the authors, but because of the childish attacks on the left. It's entertaining on a humor site, but less so on a site that says, "We try and maitain (sic) a higher level of debate and discussion that some people just don't appear to be intersted (sic) in at all."

I appreciate thoughtful analysis and commentary from either side of the issue.

I do not appreciate this.

Unfortunately for the right, I can swim.

I'd be more irritated that somebody thought it was clever to recycle such an ancient joke. The fact that so many of the 'fans' thought it was a stroke of genius says a lot about them as well.

Don't worry, Jen. If you get tired of swimming you can use my seat cushion as a flotation device.

Sorry for the pings, Jen, but I wanted to clarify my feelings about the humor. It wasn't meant as an attack on Democrats in particular, just general humor, you know? We have to be able to laugh at politics because without that, in the words of the great Jimmy Buffet, we would all go insane.

Just to clarify--I do think Blogs for Bush has some great analysis. Captain Ed in particular is one of my favorite bloggers.

I've commented further at Daniel's.

You make it sound like drowning Democrats is a bad thing.

If the joke were different and he asked for a bronze Republican, I would not be the least bit offended. I cannot understand why you are offended.

When I told it on my site, it was a bronze lawyer and I was not in the least offended.

Daniel Moore should have known better than assume that Democrats have any sense of humor to begin with (unless it's at the expense of Republicans).

Murgle flurble glurp.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

get a sense of humor commie bitch

Posted by: at March 30, 2004 10:13 PM

Oh look. Now we have an infestation of right-wing trolls. I wonder if the same poison will work on them?

Posted by: Pixy Misa at March 31, 2004 02:40 AM

You're a commie, Jen? Why didn't you tell me? And why isn't your site all red and stuff. This is all very confusing.

Posted by: Jim at March 31, 2004 06:51 AM

Jen is not a communist--she's an anarchist. Big difference.

whaa? she's an antiChrist? I knew it...those luny lefties have no soul. heathens, ha!

Posted by: OO at March 31, 2004 09:15 AM

I agree Jenn. If only Blogs for Bush could be as inspired as you and rename their blog, Blogs for Bush and Stuff, I could handle the humor. But I guess all websites can't have the integrity and honor of say... Democratic Underground.

I'm not offended by the stupid joke, I can swim just fine thanks, unlike your typical corpulent Republican inbreed.

By the way, I love the brave, brave troll telling you to get a sense of humor. How about you little anonymous troll asking the wizard for a wee bit of courage while you're at it?

The humor of the right is, generally, pretty pathetically lame. Hey, did I just discover the Everybody Loves Raymond demographic? Someone's gotta watch that garbage and they can't have a sense of humor so it must be the Resmuglicans (and why yes, that is a new word born here, in your comment thread, Jen).
