*Tsunami

Just watching/reading the news this morning as the "epic tsunami" death toll continues to climb. Up to 44,000 now according to MSNBC and FOX. CNN has it at 33,000.

Hard to try to write about anything else at the moment...others have said enough to rebuke that idiot Jan Egeland.

Here is a blog set up especially for tsunami relief information.

And that is why Jan England is the unanimous winner of this year's Gleuteocephalitis Award. What a dick.

Umm. Wrong. He is right about the US.. but also about pretty much everyone by extrapolation. Consider the sums talked about, the entire world's planned aid is less than $100million; with the EU planning $46mil on top of individual member contributions, and the US planning $15million.

The world effort is less than 0.05 per cent of the cost of the war in Iraq. The US has just pledged an additional $80,000 mil to Iraq: how much more is that than $15mil? Oh yeah about 5000 times more.
The US aid to the countries represents about 2hours of funding for the US war agaisnt terror. Two hours. Of course it is stingy.
The combined EU effort is about 4 times better than the US's, and Australia's (based on population) about 5 times better.

But ultimatly $100million is stingy, and not just the paltry $15mil from the US - but basically every country is stingy.
