8/19 Lyrical Pursuit Lyrics

For Victor

(See rules/intro here.)

Well, the bell hops tears keep flowin,

And the desk clerks dressed in black.

Well they been so long on lonely street

They aint ever gonna look back

Cheaters will be shot, survivors will be shot again

I'm guessing heartbreak hotel by Elvis.

Is that your final answer?

Yay!

Feel better now?

It's only a mere consolation Stephen. You're trouncing the rest of us.

I propose a Lyrical Pursuit Stimulus Package, wherein some of Stephen's glut of points is paid out to the rest of us. Each person with points on the board gets 2 points from Stephen; which would narrow the gap considerably.

It's the only democratic thing to do! All in favor?

Wouldn't that be more of a windfall tax type of thing?

Posted by: Pete at August 19, 2008 12:29 PM

It would if it wasn't called a Stimulus Package.

I preferred the arrangement by John Cale, myself.

Is the artist correct? Don't forget Jen has been, in the past, very specific the artist be correct. While she didn't specify it has to be the Original artist, she does want to be sure it's a specific artist (as in, there's a difference between Jon Bon Jovi the leadman, and Bon Jovi the band). In this case, all shank answered was "Elvis" without specifying which one. Is it Elvis Costello, or Elvis Presley?

In which case, my answer is "Heartbreak Hotel" as covered by John Cale.

I am not quite as picky as Jen, but nice try.
