3/13 Lyrical Pursuit Lyric

Another week has passed and the weekend beckons to us. But we cannot enter the promised land just yet, there is still one last hurdle to over come. Yes it is another crappy song from the 70's. It's the back of the box edition of lyrical pursuit and this one is guaranteed to stick in your head.

(See rules/intro here.)

His young and lovely fiancee

From where I stood, I saw she was cryin'

You really don't want to cheat to win this one.
Update: Sorry Nic

Nic (and her sister) wins: It is Billy Don't be a Hero by Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods.

March totals: Nic 15, Stephen 10, Victor 5, Keith 5

Oh man. I know the song but I'm blanking on the artist, if you can use "artist" in that sense. I have my operatives working on it.

My sister, er, operative, knows her maudlin 70s pop even better than I do. The song is Billy, Don't be a Hero, and (I quote): "Paper Lace did a version that hit #3 on the US and #1 on the UK charts. It was released a few months before Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods released theirs, which hit #1 on the US charts."

Impressive knowledge on your sister's part. It is hard to imagine 2 groups doing this song at the same time.

She even admits that both versions are on her iPod.

That is wrong on so many levels.

Uh, dude, Nic is not a "his." She is my girlfriend. It's short for Nicolle.

Hey, dude, Nic isn't a "his." She's a "her." It's short for Nicolle.

Oh crap, sorry about that Nic.

You mean Paper Lace did something other than The Night Chicago Died?
